Why I Went To Charis Bible College

I was asked to sum up my two years at Charis Bible College, and shared it live at Charis. It wasn't easy to do in five minutes!
My personal story
I came to Charis because I realized that I could not live and stand on my husband‘s revelation of the Bible, or the revelation of the speakers I regularly listen to. There are things in life that you feel God calls you to to take a next step that will open up the door for the rest of what you’re called to do on this earth. Every person is born with a specific purpose, and created uniquely by God (see Psalm 139). After we walked through a healing journey with our second child and saw miraculous healing, we wanted to follow God‘s plan for us which now included healing ministry and learning all about it. My

husband already went to Bible College but I had always wanted to, and we felt very strongly that we could not go further without me doing just that. When we finally took the plunge to move across the country to Colorado, we had overwhelming peace that we were now in the right place for this season in our family.
It was not an easy decision. We sold a brand new (dream)home in Florida with a lake view, gave up a very blessed ministry career at a thriving mega-church, and moved away from all of our friends and family. But what God has done in me during these two years was worth all of the sacrifice! I was a "Saturday hybrid" student for 2 full years, and every Saturday i arrived at school, IT felt like I was coming home. The peace and the joy that I experienced is hard to describe. I counted down the days every two weeks for school. I finally found like-minded believers who are as passionate about God as we were. I’ve spoken to several students, and they all described 1st year at Charis as: "learning all about God and who he really is, and discovering His true nature." We all come from many diverse backgrounds that can paint very wrong pictures of God‘s character; the many wrong ways that we view God. Seeing God correctly for who He really is will determine the level of victory you live in.
Students also described 2nd year was: "learning all about yourself and who you are in Christ," and what you’re gifted to do. A 3rd year goes even deeper, (I plan to do a 3rd year in 2023) and you can choose a specific track to specialize in. You can choose Leadership, Ministry School, Global Outreach, Worship, Film and Production, and Government.
My absolute favorite thing in my second year was the introduction of IAG‘s. IAG stands for "interactive groups" where you learn how to speak publicly in front of a small group, in a safe environment where they give you feedback as you learn and follow instruction on how to speak on a variety of topics and in several situations. I saw myself transform from completely shaky and afraid, to speaking confidently and learning how to be led by the Holy Spirit on what to say.
My testimony of transformation at Charis is that God truly did show me how to get my own revelation for myself from the Holy Spirit, and not from or through anyone else. This is priceless! Hearing from God (getting your own personal revelation from the Bible and the Holy Spirit) is the number one key to walking in victory all throughout your life. Jesus paid for us to walk in all God has for us through what He did on the cross, not only salvation, but healing physically and emotionally, freedom and deliverance, abundance in your relationships and finances, unity with believers and learn how to be bold and share your faith with people who need Jesus. (Greek words for salvation are both "sozo" and "soteria" having multiple meanings: to save, keep safe and sound, deliver, to rescue from danger or destruction, from injury or peril, to save a suffering one (from perishing), from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health, to deliver from the penalties of judgment!)
Charis Bible College truly filled in so many gaps in my life, my knowledge, and my faith. It put a magnifying glass on any weak spots I had and built those up to become strong through the Word and Intimacy with Abba Father. Every class filled in more missing spaces in my life, and many lies and religious wrong thoughts were replaced by God‘s truth, which is transformational in all aspects of life. It was built brick by brick.
Two things sum up my two years:
First I discovered that the good news of the gospel that God as a Father is way greater, better, and in the words of one of the instructors, Greg Mohr, way “gooder” than I ever imagined. (Ephesians 3:20)
Second, I discovered that living the victorious “royal life” (Romans 5:17) is actually easier than I ever thought possible. Living in victory is not based on all of the works we do, and trying to be good enough and earn God's grace. Everything has already been provided through what Jesus did on the cross, and our responsibility is to fully surrender our lives, and learn how to fully receive everything Jesus has already provided for us! The full gospel of Jesus and all that He paid for is truly the best news ever! As Andrew says, the gospel is it’s not only good news, it's almost too-good-to be-true news! Everyone needs this news!
